Date: 1st-31st April 2023
Project Description
As part of the Public Space Design curriculum, 3rd-year students at Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology (SMI) participated in a month-long module on "Design for ALL”.
This program focused on universal design principles, accessibility, and inclusive public space planning, encouraging students to rethink how built environments can accommodate diverse needs.
Through interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and real-world case studies, students critically examined accessibility barriers and explored empathy-driven design solutions. For their final design project, students developed concepts for inclusive park design, drawing insights from their visits to the Museum of Possibilities, Vidya Sagar, and Infinity Park in Chennai—renowned spaces championing accessibility and inclusion.
The pin-up session was graced by the presence of Ar. Prof. Neelkanth Chhaya, whose visit was an inspiring moment for students. His insights and engagement added depth to the discussion, reinforcing the importance of inclusive and user-centered design.
